Every year, the city of Chicago and the Chicago Public Library host the Chicago Public Library Foundation Awards Gala. The event invites leaders and guests to raise critical funds to empower Chicagoans year-round. This year, they decided that the Gala’s theme would be the ‘Power of Storytelling,’ with main guest speakers Tony Kushner, Rick Bayless and Sherman “Dilla” Thomas.
The visual identity of the event reflects and draws inspiration from the idea that each individual’s story has an impact and sparks something in every person, whether it’s a conversation, an emotion or an imagination.
The limited color palette with the vibrant blue and stark white symbolizes the confidence and boldness of each storyteller, balanced with approachable and friendly type to invite the rest of the city to join virtually. The deliverables could be found all over the city, from bus shelters to newspaper advertisements.
